Among other projects, I am currently working with Camilyo, a SAAS outfit, that has developed an all-in-one platform that SMBs use to improve their digital presence and operation.

Camilyo’s platform enables re-sellers to administer thousands of sites efficiently while providing the actual SMB a comprehensive product from which they can manage their digital efforts.

Previously, I spent six years at a media company that operated local television stations across the United States.  As the Head of Digital Media for Granite Broadcasting, I was charged with digital transformation within the company.  Initially this required a great deal of evangelism, from establishing a sound strategy with the top executives to convincing reporters and sales people their world was changing.

It was rewarding to work with both the sales teams and journalists.  Each had their own challenges and we made much progress bringing both into the digital world.  The sales teams became armed with products that helped them sell against a new competitive set.  The news teams, on the other hand, learned how to become 24/7 story tellers and many became adept at using social media.

I love figuring out ways to do things better and faster. I learned a few programming languages  so that I could automate many of my manual tasks. For example, I created a system that automated the collection of ads running across competitive digital media sites. This, in turn, helped me manage our sales teams more effectively and helped them better target their sales efforts. As social social media and mobile marketing became more important to our journalists, sales teams, and audiences I became well-versed in associated best practices, became a Google Certified AdWords professional, and now conduct seminars that teach these respective groups how to best deploy them.

Outside of work, I am motivated by challenging activities. For example, I compete in masters swimming events and race in distance open water swims during the summer. I have completed five marathons with a fastest time of 2:54 at the Marine Corps marathon in Washington, DC. I have also coached youth soccer, little league baseball, and helped my daughter become a ranked long distance runner. Thanks to the Feedly reader, my reading habit spans about 75 sources each day.  I love conquering the New York Times crossword puzzle, playing a competitive game of Scrabble, and watching college football.
