While I don’t usually post personal experiences into my blog, something at my son’s OSU orientation is worthy.
The Dean of Freshman Life asked the incoming students what is the first thing they do when they wake up in the morning. Maybe 5% said Facebook. A few said “check email.” A few said nothing. And, virtually the entire incoming class said “check Twitter.”
The Dean then asked the parents who were seated behind their children to answer the same question. About 40% said they check Facebook as the first thing in the morning. And another 50% or so said check email.
The Dean then said, “now you know why the students no longer use Facebook very much.”
Could this be a canary in the coal mine for Facebook?
